I was at the track with my 125cc shifter karts this week in Orlando trying to get faster on the kart. The sun was out and the track had lots of rubber on it so it was perfect to try out my new data system. I've been trying to get faster for a while now to beat the guys so every little advantage helps. I set the tire pressures to around 10psi front and rear which seems to be the perfect balance. The front bar was left in and the rear was in also, which seems to make the kart handle better at the track.
The Aim data system I got shows so much stuff that you have to really learn all the features to get the most out of it. It shows mph, track position, gear, temperatures and even throttle position. It's hard to read the data as you are driving so once I came in off the track we just downloaded it to my laptop to go over it all. Once we looked at it I realized I was being too herky jerky on the steering wheel nd the gas. Next time I went out I tried to be smoother and managed to shave a second of of my best lap time.

There are a lot of little sensors that go with it that we had to hook up. It was fun though because my dad helped out a lot with that part. I noticed too the the kart was sliding off the track in this one turn but sure enough the software showed that I was turning in too soon to the corner and that was causing the problem. Next time out I changed my driving line and that helped a lot. I also got a hand from the go karts rock guy who was at the track that day. He helped me with the system setup and learning to use all the buttons.
By the end of the day I was definitely faster and smoother by actually being able to read the software and see where I was good. Hope the boys don't have the same advantage at the next event! Now I will leave you with one of my favorite drivers to watch, Max!
